چکیده
Harmonograms are visual designs based on harmonic analyses of strings of characters. Fourier descriptors are synthesized according to character positions and values, and then traditional methods are used to generate the resulting curves. Undersampling introduces visual artifacts that actually enhance the final designs. While their primary use is for the creation of artistic designs, harmonograms may have a practical application as a method for encoding and decoding information via the frequency domain. r 2006 Elsevier Ltd. Rep-tiles with woven horns
This paper describes a simple geometric construction for the visualization of Alexander’s horned sphere as a selfsimilar fractal curve in the plane. The construction is based on a recursive rep-2 rectangle progression to a specified depth. Parameterized curve generation and rendering details are briefly discussed. r 2005 Elsevier Ltd. متن کاملCantor knots
A technique based on Cantor division is used to embellish artistic knotwork designs. Weaving rules are relaxed to allow a mostly alternating weave to be applied to the resulting patterns. The new method is compared to traditional knotwork, and the generation of examples is discussed. r 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
متن کاملGaudí's organic geometry
Spanish architect Antoni Gaudı́ drew on natural precedent to create fantastic organically inspired designs. This paper examines some common motifs in his works, and demonstrates how simple geometric operations can be applied to polyhedral models to achieve similar results. The importance of the partial hyperbolic paraboloid surface (or hypar) is discussed in this context. r 2007 Elsevier Ltd. Al...
متن کاملFractal board games
Connection games are a recent genre of abstract board games with some interesting geometrical properties. We introduce a recursive metarule with which existing connection games can be expanded into fractal-like variants with recursively defined play. Computer graphics are used to extrapolate a theoretical game played on a continuous potential field to a similar set of games that are truly fract...
متن کاملTaiji variations: Yin and Yang in multiple dimensions
This paper briefly describes the historical background and geometric construction of the Taiji diagram, commonly known as the YinYang symbol. Some examples of twoand three-dimensional variations are given based on alternative construction methods, including a simplified baseball curve with shape parameterized by a single variable. This curve is used to describe the standard Taiji ball, and intr...
